Obituary

Vicki Harriet Barnett, 81, passed peacefully Monday morning, January 30th, at her home in Abilene, Texas. The celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Shining Star Fellowship Church, Pastor Richard A. Darden officiating. She was born on April 9, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois and was adopted by Stanley and Ruth Josephson. Her dad owned an old fashion soda shop with pharmacy. In later years, she worked there until leaving home.

Vicki married John Rasmusson and gave birth to three children. After his passing, she married Robert Cook II and gave birth to two additional children. She was employed by Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas for over twenty years as a medical transcriptionist. After retiring, she moved to Abilene in 2004 and continued her transcribing as a part-time remote employee.

Her family was everything. She was a loving, caring mother and grandparent who literally gave her all for each one. She loved knitting and crocheting and made many handmade outfits, blankets, and gifts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, and church members. In addition, she loved doing puzzles, square-dancing, and reading books. She enjoyed playing games on her computers where a vast library of e-books was available at her fingertips.

Vicki accepted Jesus Christ to be her personal Lord and Savior as an adult. Shortly after arriving in Abilene, she joined Shining Star Fellowship in 2004 and was a faithful and committed member up until the bring her into His presence. She shown her servanthood through her long duty as financial secretary; love for visiting families in the community; and leading activities in Vacation Bible School. As you can see, she loved her Lord and church family.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy and Greg Smith (husband) of Joplin, Missouri; son, David Rasmusson of Abilene, Texas; son, Lee and Rena Rasmusson (wife) of Abilene, Texas; daughter, Rebecca and Tony Huber (husband) of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her twelve (12) grandchildren and seventeen (17) great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and son, Robert Cook III.
