ABILENE: Tommy Stevens, 90, went to be with the Lord, and his heavenly family on April 19, 2020. A private burial was held for the family in Elmwood Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place at a later date, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
Tommy was born in Hall county to Virgil and Pearl (Thomas) Stevens on September 3, 1929. He attended school in Hall county. Tommy went to work in the auto body industry during his teenage years., he was still active in the body shop he owned on Pine Street, National Body Works. He was well known as the best autobody lead man in the area, an old style of autobody repair.
He was blessed with a 60-year marriage to Waunda (Evans) Stevens that welcomed three children into their family. Tommy was later blessed again with his marriage to Nona Edwards on February 14, 2014.
He loved to hunt and fish in lower Colorado, board games, and spending time with his family. Tommy's favorite automobile was his 1951 two door Mercury that he bought new.
Tommy is survived by his wife Nona of six years; four sons, David Stevens of Bedford, Randy Stevens of Abilene, Eric Stevens and wife Marcia of Watauga, and Tommy D. Woods and wife Adela of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Velta Moore of Lake Dallas, Stella Stevens of Tulsa, Ok, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Waunda (dec2013), two sisters, and two brothers.
