Shirley Ann (Lambert) Spinks-Coffey

June 11, 1938 — September 18, 2021

TUSCOLA: Shirley Ann Spinks-Coffey, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at her house in Tuscola. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 202,1 at 10:00am in the Cedar Cap Cemetery, Directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held Monday, September 20, from 5 to 7pm at the Funeral Home.

Shirley was born on June 11, 1938, in Cedar Gap to Roy and Ruby Glaze Lambert. She attended school at South Taylor County and was a proud cheerleader for the South Taylor County Tigers. She married Donald Spinks and lived in the Cedar Gap area until his passing in 1983, she later married Charles Coffey in 2007, they spent the next seven years making their home Abilene until his passing in 2014.

Shirley was a CNA, working for the Abilene State School, and then she retired in 2006 from Hendrick house calls to become a housewife and grandma.

Shirley liked to dance and spend time with her family, she loved to crochet and made many Afghans for the West Texas Rehab center annual telethon. She was active in sports and not only watched softball and volleyball but played in several adult leagues.
It was football that she was her real enjoyment each fall. Watching, and being a true Texan at heart, it was Dallas Cowboy football that was her passion. She never missed a game and was often the best assistance coach Jerry Jones or the Dallas Cowboys ever had. Her living room coaching style was famously known about in her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Freeman of Cedar Gap, Patricia and Darrell Earnest of Lawn, Lisa Spinks and Patricia Arredondo of Cedar Gap; son Dallas Smith of Queen City: two sisters, Ruby Claudette Nevels and Sandy Jackson both of Cedar Gap; and a brother Joe Lambert of Cedar Gap. She is also survived by five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Donald Spinks and Charles Coffey, son, John Hudson, brothers, Richard and Dave Lambert.
