Ruth Ellen (Haygood) Meeks

Ruth Ellen Meeks, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 22, 2022. Ruth was born on May 30, 1925 to Rubin and Jessie Lee Haygood. She was born in the small town of Jersey, Arkansas. Her family moved to Star City, Arkansas where she helped on her family farm and with their restaurant.

She married Allen Meeks on June 1, 1941. They were married for 54 years. During that time they lived in numerous states while working in churches. They had 4 children. In 1960 they followed the Lord's leading and moved their family to Alaska to help start churches throughout the state.

In the late 1960's to early 1970's, Ruth and Allen bought Anchor Bible Book Store in Anchorage, Alaska. The book store grew and grew, supporting local churches and churches all throughout the state. Ruth was able to touch the lives of many people for Christ through her store during all those years.

Ruth is proceeded in death by her parents; 6 siblings, Oma Lee, Anna, Grady, Jonnie Mac, Lois, and RV; her loving husband, Allen Meeks; her daughter, Marsha King; and her grandson, Chris Meeks.

Left to cherish her memories are her 3 children, Donna Bingham, Steve Meeks, and Beth Anderson. Ruth leaves a great legacy through her 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, along with many family members, nieces and nephews, and in-laws who love her dearly.

A visitation will be held at Fry-Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm. A graveside service will be at Buffalo Gap Cometary on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 11:00 am.
