Lenora Arlyne Reid

May 24, 1927 — January 22, 2022

Lenora Arlyne Gallas Reid, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2022.

She was a lady who never had a cross word to say about anyone, never met a stranger, made friends very easily and a member of the Lawn Church of Christ.

Lenora was born May 24, 1927 in Miles, Texas to E.F. Gallas and Louise Kiesling Gallas. Lenora lived throughout West Texas and in South America with her husband, a maintenance supervisor in the oil and gas industry, and her three sons. The family settled in Lawn in 1973.

She attended school in Miles, Texas. Later, she worked in the retail industry and for the phone company.

Lenora was known as “Lady” to her brothers and sisters and “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her loving and caring spirit won her the Citizen of the Month award in the first edition of the Jim Ned Journal newspaper.

She loved going to church and was an active member of the Lawn Church of Christ for over forty-nine years. She enjoyed daily bible readings, Christian word find, and putting puzzles together with Darryl. She also enjoyed collecting souvenir spoons from Gerald Alan’s and Randal’s trips and watching game shows. She had a zest for good food and really enjoyed family gatherings. She especially enjoyed opening her home to family and friends for visits and companionship.

She, along with Gerald Norris, taught their sons many things, most importantly, to love and believe in God and Jesus Christ and his teachings.

Lenora was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She will be remembered as a loving lady and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her sons Gerald Alan Reid (Diana) of Abilene and Randal Norris Reid of Lawn; sister-in-law Ida Reid of Lawn; grandchildren Gerald Wayne Reid (Chelsea) of Wichita Falls, Britton Reid (Kari) of Lawn, Emily Reid of Austin, Ashley Flatt of Abilene; Aaron Flatt (Lacey) of Abilene, and Wyatt Rodgers of Austin, eight great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Gerald Norris Reid; son, Darryl Lee Reid; brothers, Clinton, Leroy, Melvin and sisters, Ellen, Edna, AlmaLene, Nelda and Mary.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Wayne Reid, Britton Reid, Emily Reid, Clay Riddle, Wayne Elkins, and James Matheson. Honorary Pallbearers are Aaron Flatt, Ashley Flatt, Wyatt Rodgers, and Devin Stewart.

The family would like to thank Lily Mae Davis and everyone at Caprock Home Health Services, Janie Gonzales, and everyone at Generations Home Health, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff of the ICU unit of Hendrick Medical Center South.

Memorials may be made to Lawn Church of Christ C/O Roy Meyer, 3634 US Highway 83 84, Tuscola, TX 79562-3314, or the donor’s favorite charity.
