Jerry Wayne Richardson

December 5, 1953 — January 16, 2021

OVALO: Jerry Wayne “Dewey” Richardson, 67, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 in San Angelo. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 12:00pm in the sanctuary of Ovalo Baptist Church, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held after the service at 2:30 at the funeral home in Tuscola.
Dewey was born on December 5, 1953 in Farmington, NM to George and Wanda (Carpenter) Richardson. He moved to Denver City in the 5th grade and graduated Denver City High in 1971.
Jerry married Elizabeth Ann Cloud on February 4, 1972 in Denver City. They welcomed three children, Bret, Kirk and Tracy.
Jerry worked in the West Texas Oil Field; he developed a special skill of recovering broken tools in a well bore, known as a “Fisherman and Downhole specialist”. Because of his professionalism and quickness on the well site, he was sought after when a break down occurred. Jerry spent years saving drilling companies time and money while he was “fishing”. He and his father owned Richardson Trucking during the late 80’s to early 90’s.
Jerry and Ann retired from the oilfield and moved to Ovalo in 2016 to be closer to family scattered through out Texas.
Jerry loved the other kind of fishing that included baiting a hook, target shooting and spending time playing nerf wars and wrestling with his grandkids. He also enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. It was not uncommon for him to be found mowing something in Ovalo for the community center or to help a neighbor in need.
Jerry is survived by his wife Ann Richardson of Ovalo; parents George and Wanda Richardson of Peoria; daughter, Tracy Yoder and husband Grady of Lawn; sons, Bret Richardson and wife Courtney of Lubbock, Kirk Richardson and wife Kara of Carrollton; they boast ten grandchildren, Kole, Luke, Karsen, Sterlin, Evan, Kenndy, Claire, Reece, Andrew and Grant. He is also survived by his brother, Gene (Bud) Richardson and wife Dawn of Southlake; sister, Wanda Ann Moriarty and husband John of Richards and lots of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for you to share your favorite story or memory of Jerry with the family by sending them to Tracy Yoder. PO Box 652, Buffalo Gap, Tx 79508.
