Dorothy Faye (Cotton) Aldridge

August 11, 1925 — December 27, 2021

Dorothy Faye Cotton Aldridge, 96, was born August 11, 1925, at home in Bethel, Runnels Co., she passed away in Abilene on December 27, 2021, after a short decline in her health.

At one year old, her parents moved them to Drasco, where she lived until graduation from Bradshaw High School in 1943, Dorothy met Amos Aldridge in 1941, married in June of 1943, and were married 73.5 years before his death. After WWII, they bought their farm/ranch at Content with Amos's twin brother, Amon in 1947.

They were blessed to live their married life there, raising their family, and serving the Lord.

Mom was a strong and brave Christian homemaker. Her hospitality of cooking meals for family, friends, church gatherings, bull buyers and reunions was a blessing to all. Mom always had fresh and frozen food from her vegetable and fruit gardens. She helped make farm and ranch life a success. She sewed for her family.

She was a longtime member at Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church at Dewey, then in Lawn, Texas. Our Proverbs 31, virtuous and gracious mother, has earned the title of "The Greatest Generation". Mother followed Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."

She is preceded in death by her husband, Amos (2016), daughter Sarah Aldridge Hastings(2018), parents, Ora M. and Maggie (McDaniel) Cotton and stepmother Minnie Yates Knight Cotton.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamila Guffey, and husband Joe; son, Lanny Aldridge, and wife Sherry; and son-in-law Leland Hastings; grandchildren, Todd and Tai Guffey, Trey and Julie Guffey, Joley Guffey-Hatter, Curry and Shana Aldridge, Ryan and Liz Aldridge, Brent and Melanie Hastings, and Megan Hastings. Great grandchildren, Joel, Lydia, Corbin, Evan, Andie and Dean Guffey; Montgomery and Cora Leigh Hatter; Reese, Cade, Abby, and Colton Aldridge; and Hunter Hastings.
