Danny Roy (Lafoon) Lafoon

March 5, 1956 — October 10, 2021

LAWN: Danny Roy Lafoon, 65, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, he was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 5 to 7pm at Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.

Danny was born on March 5, 1956, to Roy Lafoon in Abilene. Danny attended school at Jim Ned from the start to his senior year. He went to work in the oilfield and then came back and opened Auto and Truck Repair in Lawn. It was not long that he found his calling in the scale business and went to work maintaining and installing scales of all sizes. It was in middle 1990’s that Danny took the leap and opened Western Weigh Company. He had planned to sell Western Weight and retire next year.

Danny stumbled across a young lady that he discovered was a lot like he was, always honest and they both loved Star Trek. He married Karen Hufford on September 30, 1983, at their house in Lawn. In their thirty-eight years of marriage Danny and Karen never moved from Lawn. Danny and Karen’s love for Lawn runs deep, with Danny serving on the Lawn city council for several years and Karen working at the Lawn elementary school.

Danny and Karen celebrated the birth of their only child Logan, this changed his life and Danny was often found supporting Logan and his accomplishments, he was close to his older sister Robbie, as her little brother he loved to annoy her, but she became a very close and trusted confidant later in life.

He was well versed in a variety of subjects, trains being one of his favorites, not just any train but Union Pacific’s steam train, Big Boy. Danny, along with a few other thousand train enthusiast, chased Big Boy during its Texas tour last year. A steam train is an engine mounted on wheels with moving parts that he could watch, but Danny enjoyed all engines and appreciated not only how they worked but how they where also built. To relax, he could be found watching old westerns and tinkering with something new. He was a talented guitar player and at one time had a small rock band called Stonehenge.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of Lawn; son, Logan Lafoon and wife Cassandra of Abilene; sister, Robbie Patterson and husband Ira of Norman, Ok.

He was preceded in death by his father Roy Lafoon.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Union Pacific’s steam train, Big Boy.
