William Kennedy

William Thomas "Bill" Kennedy went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the age of 80. A visitation will be held at Fry-Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola, Texas on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00pm with a graveside service to follow at 2:30pm in the Tuscola Cemetery.

Bill was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Otto Kennedy and Ethel Marcum. Bill later moved to California where he joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served for 12 years, spending time in Guam and Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action on March 6, 1972. Bill was honorably discharged from the Air Force in April, 1973.

Bill eventually made his way back to Texas in the 80's moving to Marble Falls and the surrounding areas. Bill met Rhonda Brannon in 1984 and married April 21, 1985 and during this marriage a daughter, Cassandra "Cassie" Kennedy was born. Bill and Rhonda later divorced, however, remaining friends for life.

Bill worked as an aircraft mechanic for JK Aviation for several years and later became an EMT and worked for Hill Country Medical Transport. Bill enjoyed helping others and was a volunteer firefighter and EMT while living in Granite Shoals, Texas. He later purchased the ambulance service and moved the operation to Burnet. In 1995, Bill moved to Brownfield, Texas where he worked for TDCJ until his retirement in 2008 upon which time he moved to Winters, Texas to be near Cassie and family.

Bill was a dedicated father and proud Grampy. Facetime calls to Cassie and the grandchildren became a daily occurrence especially when Evan and Cassie were overseas. Bill enjoyed visiting on Facetime and staying in touch with all that was going on in Lily, Luke and Archer's lives and always ending his calls with a "be safe and I Love You".

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat Inman; and brother, Skip Mills, and his faithful companion, "Ambush".

Bill is survived by daughter, Cassie Owens & husband Evan of Ovalo, Tx, granddaughter, Lily, and grandsons Luke and Archer. Lisa and Tom Kennedy of New Hampshire, Rhonda Adams of Ovalo, ; brother-in-law and sister-in law, John and Becky Strother of Round Rock, Tx; sister-in-law, Linda Brannon Murrell of Georgetown, Tx; the children of Lewis Adams; Jeremy Adams, Josh Adams, and Jennifer Robinson; nephew, Josh Brannon, nieces, Angela Martinez, Anna Woods, Jessica Morrow and Sarah Strother.

The family wishes to acknowledge the following special people: longtime friend, Jim Dewbre, faithful friend and neighbor, Lloyd Irwin, and friends Kirk and Patty Martin. Rob and staff with Fresenius Dialysis Center, Dr. Alan Hardwicke and staff and North Runnels Hospital.
