Wally Jude Vicknair, Sr

August 6, 1937 — December 19, 2015

TUSCOLA: Wally Jude Vicknair Sr., "Vick", a devoted husband, beloved father and life-long Louisiana football fan passed on Saturday, December 19, 2015. He will always be remembered as a caring and fun-loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather by his family.

Vick never met a stranger and loved to share stories of his adventures throughout his life. Many hours were spent sitting with his family sharing memories of his childhood and early life while in the Navy, and going to dances with his wife, Judy, and other family members. A Louisiana-native, he learned his trade of carpentry from his father-in-law, Madison Gill and brother-in law, Ronnie Gill, who was like a brother to him. He was a proud member of the Carpenter's Union, which took on an adventure into New Jersey before finally settling into his home in Tuscola, Texas. While in Texas, Vick enjoyed helping his friends and family, and serving his community as shown through his term with City Council, and a proud member of American Legion and Lion's Club and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscola. His love of music and Cajun food was passed down to all his children and grandchildren. Many hours were spent listening to Sammy Kershaw, George Jones and Bob Seger while enjoying cracklings.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Vicknair; children; Ricky White, Wally Vicknair Jr., Vicki Kay Vicknair Harless, and Rhonda Allen; son-in-law, Jeff Allen; grandchildren, Ashley Ronshausen and husband Gary, Lindsey Rummel and husband, Kurt, Casey Fox and husband Jeff, Amber White, James Harless III, Nikki Kay Harless; great-grandchildren; Kylie Miller, Jeffrey and Alton Fox, Hagen and Ellison Hermes, Jager Ronshausen. He was preceded in death by father Sidney Vicknair, mother, Mary Vicknair, brothers, Sidney Vicknair Jr and Alvin Vicknair "Mackey", and sisters, Doris Bowman, Betty Reynolds, Odetha Hamby, Margaret Lanclose, Sherry Gautreaux, and Judy Estes. Vick’s only remaining sister Sandra Jarl of Santa Fe, Texas. Also survived by brothers-in-law, Earl Gautreaux, Ronnie Estes, Ronnie Gill, and wife Diane, sister-in-law, Kay Wilson and husband Lynn.

His wife and family would like to thank the VA in Abilene for all the assistance and support given during his extended illness. Many thanks to Dr. Zhang and her staff for providing resources, medications, and appointments as needed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in his name your favorite charity.
