ABILENE: Stacy Horton Sanchez, 34, was called to her eternal resting place on September 22, 2018 after a short battle with Cancer.
Born May 12, 1984 to Jerry Don Horton and Beverly Black Wright. Stacy graduated from Jim Ned high School in 2002, then from McMurry University in 2007 with a bachelors degree in fine arts with a focus in education.
Stacy was a dedicated wife, mother, teacher, and friend. Her positive approach to life was contagious, she could easily change the mood of the room with her smile, laughter and overall positive attitude. Stacy had a passion for art and teaching and was a huge inspiration to her students. Her love for art and music could be seen in everything she did.
Stacy's children were the love of her life. She loved watching them flourish and was always exposing them to new experiences. Stacy loved her community and was involved in various organizations including but not limited to The Center for Contemporary Arts, Abilene Derby Games, and many more. She served as the regional director for Visual Art Scholastic Event for the last several years, named Wylie Teacher of the Year 2017, and recently awarded the Texas Art Education Association Senior High School Educator of the Year.
Stacy is survived by her husband Christopher Sanchez, beautiful children Edie, 6 and Ian, 4; mother Beverly Black Wright, bonus dad, Eric Wright; bonus mom, Mandy Thompson Horton; sisters Lindsey Edwards Mauldin, husband Justin and their children Cooper, 9, Sawyer, 2; sisters Lainey Edwards, Carson Horton, and Audree Wright. Stacy is also survived by many, many, MANY aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Stacy was welcomed home by her Daddy, Jerry Don Horton, Grandfathers Taylor Black and Don Horton, Aunt Sharon Horton Watson and her lifetime idol and inspiration Frida Kahlo.
Stacy's infectious spirit will be missed by everyone she encountered but we are confident that she is having great reunions, making more beautiful art, and attending some amazing concerts!
