Leola Reid Allmand, 85, of Runaway Bay, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026 from 1:30 to 2:30 at Lawn Baptist Church, Lawn, Texas. A visitation will follow in the family life center at the church.
Leola was born Sally Leola Reid on May 28, 1941 to E.J. and Minnie (Shaffer) Reid in the Moro Community. Leola attended school at South Taylor County/Jim Ned. She married her childhood sweetheart, J.W. Allmand, in 1960, and they just celebrated 66 years of marriage. They owned Allmand Grocery in Ovalo for 10 years. She then worked as the clerk at Ovalo Post Office until she was appointed Postmaster at Wingate, Texas, until her retirement in 2001.
She was a devout Christian and loved playing and singing gospel music on the piano. Most of her life she played for church. They enjoyed RV'ing and camping with friends. Her favorite role was that of being MawMaw to four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren - attending their events and watching their activities.
In 2016, Leola and J.W. moved to Runaway Bay, Texas. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and formerly Lawn Baptist Church.
Leola was preceded in death by her parents E.J. And Minnie Reid, and four siblings: Clyde and Verlon Reid, Josie Hicks, Ellen Walters and Ethel Grun. She is survived by her husband, J.W. Allmand, son James Allmand and wife Jana of Round Mountain, Texas; daughter Stacy Riley and husband Mart of Bridgeport, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jeff Riley (Brittany), Cami Mann, Kelsey Allen (Riley) and Kylee Friend (Kaleb); nine great-grandchildren: Gage and Reece Riley, Landri and Lilah Mann, Maisyn, Laynee, Harlyn, Memphis and Atlee Allen. Brothers-in-Law Cal Walters and Gene Allmand also survive her as well as numerous nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to On the Way Home Ministries, 240 Ballpark Road, Lawn, Texas 79530.
