Neta Louis (Griffin) Pointer

TUSCOLA: Neta Lois Pointer, 79, passed away on Thursday July 23, 2015 at a local nursing facility. A graveside service will be held at 3pm Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Tuscola Cemetery, Marcy Grun Officiating, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held at the funeral home starting at 1:00pm before the graveside service.

Neta was born on February 11, 1936 to David and Cathy Giffin in Paducah, Texas.  She attended Paducah schools where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She help found the Chilldress Old Settlers, in Childress and with her husband, Buddy Pointer, they started the bit and spur show in Abilene.

When it came to her work, Neta always considered herself a ranch wife first foremost, but who also worked as a banker and was an independent home health caregiver.

She, along with her son Royce, were involved with 4-H, FFA, and rodeo starting with the Little Britches Association, then moving up to AJRA, and the AQHA.

She is survived by her son Royce Tippett and wife Serena of Tell; granddaughter Talena Tippet of Tell; grandsons Trinton Tippet of Ada, OK, James Richards of Rule, Tristen Tippett of Ardmore, OK, and Tarlton Tippet of Quannah; great grandchildren Tanner, Tyke, Tatun,  Lani and Levi; niece Cindy Hudson of Hamlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Buddy Pointer (dec 1993), and a brother Jimmy Giffin.
