Irmgard Weinstein

January 5, 1931 — January 5, 2026

Irmgard "Irma" Weinstein, 95, of Abilene, Texas passed away on January 5, 2026 peacefully in her home. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday January 13, 2026 from 5-7 PM at the Fry-Smith Funeral Home, located at 502 Kent Ave, Tuscola, TX and a small private service for the family will take place on Wednesday, January 14th at 11:00 AM graveside at the Veteran's Cemetery.

Irma was born on January 5, 1931 in Langendorf Sudenland, Germany to Hugo and Hermine Kandler. Irma was married to Sheldon Weinstein on June 1, 1957 in Kaufburen Germany and together they were married happily for 65 years before his passing in February of 2022.

Throughout her life, she was a dedicated homemaker and devoted mother who raised two children with love and care and later raised her grandson with that same passion. She especially loved playing Bingo at the VFW, and it was rare for her and Sheldon to miss a session. She also volunteered for the Meals on Wheels of Abilene as well as the gift shop in Abilene Regional Medical Center. She also enjoyed working in her garden, nurturing her flowers, and faithfully feeding the birds that made her yard their home.

She was sassy and stubborn in the best way, dependable to her core, and always ready for a good puzzle and had an especially soft spot for her great-grandson, who could always make her smile. She made it her mission to feed everyone around her-family, visitors, and animals alike-hungry or not.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sheldon Weinstein, Sister Erika Black, along with their family dog, Lexus, a cherished companion, who will be laid to eternal rest with both of her devoted owners.

She is survived by her two children, Amy Acosta and Glenn Weinstein (Marna Scherer) both of Abilene; two grandchildren, Lainey Acosta and Scott Weinstein, both of Abilene; her great-grandson Cutter Case Lee; and dear friends and caretakers, Alma Martinez and Juanita Campos.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of Abilene or All Kind Animal Initiative. The family would like to thank Hendrick Home Hospice Care and Matt Smith for their compassion and care.

The loss of Irma will be deeply felt, and life will never be quite as sassy without her.
