Bonnie Fairey of Winters, 99, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, after a brief illness. Bonnie was born on March 28, 1922, to O.H. and Ida Mae Casey near Belton, Texas, the third of seven children.
She married Edwin Arthur Fairey in 1937 and they settled in Winters. She was employed in the cafeteria of Winters Independent School District for 11 years, but her life was characterized by caring for others - first for her energetic family of nine children, then to devoted childcare, and finally to a long list of friends and family to whom she showed love and comfort in their later years.
Bonnie was a person who loved much and was much loved in return. She was a person of faith in Jesus Christ and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Winters.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, six siblings, and son James Fairey. She is survived by two sons, John Fairey of Winters and Jack (Melanie) Fairey of Granbury, and six daughters: Dorothy Pruett of Graham, Evelyn Marie Cariker of Georgetown, Kathryn (Leroy) Kraatz of Goldsboro, Mary Miles of Abilene, Ginger (Steve) Tatom of Kingsland, and Barbara Lovett of Lubbock. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She will also be missed by many, including special friends Bryan and Marcie Webb and Mary Esquivel.
