Bobbie Allen

September 14, 1933 — May 1, 2025

Bobbie "Colleen" Allen passed from this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2025. A visitation will be held at Fry-Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 5-7pm. A graveside service will be held at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery on Wednesday, May 7 at 2:00pm. The family would love for friends to help them celebrate her life.

Colleen was born in Buffalo Gap, Texas to Bob and Bernice Harris on September 14, 1933. She attended school in Buffalo Gap where she could hardly wait to turn 18 so she could go to work at Timex (aka: the Watch Factory). She got what she wanted and worked for 25 years as an employee until Timex shut down. Not being one to sit around, she immediately went to work for Texas Instruments and remained there until they shut down. She then moved on to work for Rita Barber until the company moved to Fort Worth. Since Colleen wasn't about to leave Buffalo Gap, her retirement began.

Colleen married Homer Lee Allen on December 15, 1951 in Lawn, Texas. The two raised two daughters in Taylor County before making their home in Buffalo Gap. Colleen and Homer loved flea markets. They could often be found on the weekend together looking for bargains to buy or setting up a table to sell their own things. She and Homer also enjoyed discovering new parts of Texas. They would ride for miles and miles together just to see our great state.

Colleen was a character. She worked most of her life and loved it, but after retirement, she found a new love; slot machines and lottery tickets. She and her best friend Paula from work would often take trips to casinos and many times those trips would include Colleen's favorite meal; a Whataburger hamburger. Robert Hernandez, a very special friend, visited her almost daily. They would sit on the front porch and scratch lottery tickets together. She was a granny to him.

Colleen is survived by her two daughters, Bobby Pate and husband Ray of Abilene, and Terri Woodward and husband Randy of Abilene, 5 grandchildren - Jerry Lee Turnbow and wife Stephanie, Bridgitte Lomas and husband Michael, Lacey Roe, Jason Perry and wife Tiffany, and Elisha Dela Cruz and husband Martin, as well as 12 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Allen, her parents Bob and Bernice Harris, brother LaWayne Harris, and sister Hazel Harris.

Colleen was well loved, and will be greatly missed.
