Billy Broyles

December 4, 1955 — December 16, 2025

Billy Wyatt Broyles died on December 16, 2025, a few days after celebrating his 70th earthly birthday.

He was born on the evening of December 4, 1955, in Abilene, at St. Ann's Hospital to Billie Mac and Betty Joyce Broyles. He attended Johnston Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, and Abilene High School. During high school, he enjoyed doing photography for the yearbook, and upon graduating he attended photography school in the Dallas area. In the 1970s, he moved to the family ranch in Lawn, where he and his father worked livestock and the land until Billy Wyatt married.

He met Grace in 1989, and married her on August 1, 1992, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, after which they moved to their "forever" earthly home in Elm Valley. He and Grace have three children, whom he loved dearly: Amelia Aliesabet, born in 1995; Benjamin Wyatt, born in 1997; and Abigail Marguerite, born in 2004.

He was a news junkie, and when the opportunity to own a newspaper and work with photography came up, he and Grace bought the Jim Ned Journal, working the South Taylor County towns and schools for about 11 years. He and Grace raised their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, and homeschooled them through high school graduation.

Other enjoyments of his were old cars and attending local car shows, taking care of and loving on his cats, watching many different movies, and spending time with his family, especially eating good food at a leisurely pace.

Billy Wyatt was a long-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, as a member and serving as a deacon, joyfully serving until the last Sunday of his life.

Billy Wyatt is preceded in death by his parents, Billie Mac and Betty Joyce; his sister, Dorothy Annette; and his daughter, Amelia Aliesabet.
