Betty Arledge

Betty Sue White Arledge passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 7, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Betty lived a life rooted in faith, serving others, and an unwavering dedication to her family. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 18 th at 11:00 A.M at Wylie Methodist Church in Abilene, located at 3430 Antilley Road. The family has requested casual and colorful attire for the service in tribute to Betty Sue.

Betty Sue was born in Uvalde, Texas on June 5, 1939 to David and Louise White. She graduated from Uvalde High School, then attended Southwest Texas State in Uvalde. She met the love of her life, Phillip Arledge in High School and they married June 14, 1958. They raised 4 children in Del Rio, Texas and Abilene/Wylie, Texas. Betty Sue was very involved with her kid's school activities, many clubs and civic organizations as well as helping run the family businesses.

Betty Sue was a wonderful, warm and loving Mother/Memaw to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family loved visiting Memaw's house and being treated to her famous King Ranch Chicken, chocolate sheath cake and lemon pie. We all are fortunate to have treasured memories of many holidays at the ranch when the grandchildren were young with Memaw and Pappa.

Betty Sue loved playing tennis, bridge and games. She was a wonderful cook who loved to make meals for her family. Her love of needlepoint, crafting, and sewing resulted in beautiful handmade Christmas stockings for each family member, a new one added each time the family grew, which were proudly displayed on her mantle each Christmas.

Above all, Betty Sue was giving and kind with a huge heart for helping others. She never met a stranger, could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and always had a smile and a kind word for others up to the very end of her life. We are comforted that she is free of suffering and is reunited with her beloved husband, family and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be forever missed.

Betty Sue is survived by her sister, Sandra Templer and husband Joe, her children, Andy Arledge and wife Tracy, Susan Aiken and husband Trey, Chuck Arledge and wife Natalie, and Julie Mahoney and husband Robert; her grandchildren Brandon Arledge, Ryan Aiken, Brent Aiken and wife Lisa, Shelby Raney and husband Caleb, Collin Arledge, Greg Aiken and wife Hannah, and Carrie Mahoney; and her great grandchildren: Preston Bohrnstedt, Eli Aiken, Oli Aiken, Asher Arledge, Knox Raney, and Wells Raney.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Phillip Arnold Arledge, her parents, sister Medaris Oliveri, and brother David White.

Memorial donations may be made to Wylie Methodist Church, Hendrick Hospice or a local charity of your choice. Flower orders should be delivered to Wylie Methodist Church.
