Artemio Quintanilla Jr. of Tuscola passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15 from 2:00-4:00pm at Fry-Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 16 at 11:00am at Fry-Smith Funeral Home with burial to follow in Tuscola Cemetery.
Artemio Quintanilla Jr was born on August 3, 1950 in McAllen, TX to Artemio Sr and Guadalupe Quintanilla. He was raised in the West Texas Panhandle. In high school, he was nicknamed, "Tom" as most of his family called him. He graduated early from Plainview High in 1970 where he studied to be an electrician as an apprentice.
While in Plainview met the love of his life, Anna Pardo, and they married on December 20, 1975. He received his Journeyman electrical license and started working at UT Health Science Center in Houston. They later moved to Abilene, Texas where he worked at Lockheed Martin and started a family.
Art and Anna welcomed Artemio III (Artie) in November 1984 and Evaristo (EJ) in April 1990. In 1995, they started a new chapter of their life by purchasing a farmhouse in View/Caps. Art worked at Royal Electric where his son EJ started his electrical journey as Art's apprentice. They were electricians in the IBEW Union Local 20 & 681.
Art's favorite hobby, as he called it, "My part time job" was Bingo. When not being a working man, he enjoyed BBQing with his sons. He loved spending time with his grandsons Marcus born April 2014 & Lucas born May 2019.
He is preceded in death by his parents Artemio Sr and Guadalupe Quintanilla; brothers Adam & Ruben Quintanilla; brother-in-law Alfredo Ochoa Jr; and nephew Aaron Martinez.
Artemio is survived by his loving wife Anna; sons Art & EJ and wife Sara; grandsons Marcus & Lucas; brother Eulojio and wife Diana; sisters Mary and husband Florencio, Emma and husband Sam, and Lily and Janie along with many nephews and nieces.
