Ada Reid

November 6, 1927 — February 25, 2015

Ada Reid, 87, of Winters, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Bradshaw Baptist Church, officiated by Dale Bigham, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Tuscola. Burial will follow in the Bradshaw Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, from 4 to 6pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.

Ada was born on November 6, 1927 to Zeke and Naomi (Windland) Green in Taylor County. She grew up in Southern Taylor County and attended school until her graduation.

She married Clyde Reid in 1947 in Abilene, and they lived for over 64 years in South Taylor County. Ada helped Clyde on the farm filling in where she was needed. She supplemented the family income with her “butter and egg money” each week by selling butter and eggs in town and the grocery store in Winters. She later went work at Dry’s Manufacturing for 20 years, after that she cleaned houses for ten years.

Ada enjoyed fishing, and cooking for the family. Ada was not one for sitting still and could be found fighting weeds in her yard and garden or visiting her friends.

Ada is survived by her two sons, Clifford Reid of Tuscola, Howard Reid of Winters; one daughter, Brenda Schrader & husband Myron of Winters; twin sister Vada Bigham of Bradshaw; Ada is also survived by one brother in law, Verlon Reid of Abilene and wife Doris, three sisters in laws, Ethel Grun and husband Russell of Moro, Ellen Walters and husband Cal of Moro, Leola Allmand and husband J. W. of Ovalo; two grandsons, Terry Day and wife Sammie of Ballinger, and Myron Lynn Schrader of  Dallas; one granddaughter, Marcie Lemelen & husband Tim of Fort Belvoir, Virginia; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years Clyde Reid (dec.2011), and sister Nora Mae.
