Sue (Stevens) Vaughn

November 3, 1931 — June 21, 2017

Billie "Sue" Vaughn, 85, beloved Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on June 21, 2017. She entered this world on November 3, 1931 in Peacock, TX, born to Opal and Alma Stevens. Sue married her true love, Runt Vaughn, on December 18, 1948 in Abilene, Texas. The couple eventually made their home in Lawn, Texas where they lived for 46 years.

Sue worked for the Jim Ned School CISD at Lawn Elementary in the cafeteria. She retired from the school to take care of Runt and chase her grandkids. She enjoyed golf and camping, but Sue loved to fish.

She was a long time member of Lawn Baptist Church. She was a member of the Honey Bees, which allowed her to help with the children's and senior's programs in Lawn.

Sue is survived by her daughter Sherry Gowin and husband Bob of Abilene, Texas; son Terry Vaughn and wife Penny of Merkel, Texas; daughter Judy Blackwell and husband Larry of Archer, Florida; grandson Scott Blackwell and wife Lisa of Bronson, Florida; granddaughter Misty Braly and husband Russell of Albany, Texas; grandson Ricky Vaughn of Lubbock, Texas; grandson Chad Blackwell and wife Johanna of Vancouver, Washington; granddaughter Lacy Gowin of Abilene, Texas; granddaughter Shelley Scott and husband Brandon of Abilene, Texas; and 6 great-grandchildren (Belicia, Courtney, Hayley, Chase, Hattie, and Sawyer). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years Virgil Roy "Runt" Vaughn; one son Virgil "Steve" Vaughn; mother Alma Stevens; father Opal Stevens; and 2 sisters, Doris Mackey and Betty Mitcham. A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Lawn, Texas.The family will host a visitation for family and friends on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Fry-Smith Funeral Home of Tuscola, Texas.
