Duane Keith Wood

March 20, 1936 — February 1, 2017

BUFFALO GAP: Duane Keith Wood Sr., 80, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his house in Buffalo Gap. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 3:00pm in the First Baptist Church, Tuscola, Bro. DeWayne Bush officiating, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation was held from 5 to 7:00pm on Friday February 3 at the funeral home in Tuscola.

Duane was a retired mechanic. He owned and operated several mechanic shops in Abilene and Buffalo Gap, most remember him from his shop Duane's 4 WD. After he retired from auto mechanics, he opened Buffalo Gap Lawn Mower Service and worked for several years.

Duane has always been very active in his community. He was instrumental in the building of the Town Hall in Buffalo Gap, the BGVFD (Buffalo Gap Volunteer Fire Department) and it's offices, and he served for fifteen years on the Buffalo Gap City Counsel. Duane was the BGVFD Fire Chief for many years, he always said, "The only reason he was the fire chief was because he kept all of the fire trucks running for free". He was the founder and the president of the Buffalo Gap Crime Watch.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life Joannie.

He is survived by his two children, "Elaine" Woody and husband Waylon Edwards of Garland and Keith Wood and wife Kaylynn of Hico, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Duane will be missed by all of us. He was a loving husband, family man and friend. We love you Daddy.
